hēRo3 (www.hero3models.info) is PAI’s radically new Web-based platform for building and running cost-effectiveness models & sharing them with others (if you like) as secure multi-user interactive Web apps. You can run hēRo3 either in the cloud, or you can deploy it behind your firewall. You also can run hēRo3 from any Web-enabled device, including tablets and smart phones.
All calculations in hēRo3 are performed in the programming language, R, using an open-source modeling package called HEEMOD (http://cran.r-project.org/package=heemod). What hēRo3 does is bring modern Web technology to HEEMOD–allowing modelers to easily and quickly build cost-effectiveness models in R even if they don’t have any experience programming in R. At launch, hēRo3 will support both Markov cohort & partitioned survival models; functionality to support microsimulation models will be added shortly after launch. Models developed in hēRo3 are transparent and easy to QA.
The entire hēRo3 ecosystem is informed by Google Material Design. Displays are bold, graphical, and tactile, motion is used to convey meaning and relationships, and there is heavy emphasis on the experience of the model developer, those who will ultimately use the model, and the internal and external audiences to which resulting information will be directed. There also is extensive use of animation. hēRo3 uses the fact that your brain is pre-programmed to pay attention to motion to convey meaning, content, and–most importantly—a deeper understanding about the relationships that drive product value. You will find the experience of modeling and running analyses in hēRo3 completely new and different—and “candy” for your eyes and brain.
